What inspired the brand name?
The thinking behind my brand name was a focus on the inside of our head and the power that a brain really holds. The brain impacts everything we do in life as human beings like making daily decisions, coordinating our bodily functions, it gives us those bright creative ideas, it controls our emotions. It’s the center of everything.
At what moment did you realize you wanted to start a brand?
I remember I was watching T.V. late one night and I just got inspiration from what I was watching, and started writing down ideas. That night I remember I couldn’t sleep because I just kept coming up with different ideas that were related to the overall concept of what I wanted the brand to be centered around.
What helps you get over creative blocks?
My mind is always running, and I am always trying to think of new ideas and how they would fit with my brand, but usually if I stay up later than usual like I start thinking more freely and that helps with establishing new concepts because it is a different type of thought pattern.
What is the biggest mistake you have made?
I would say not trying to outreach the brand to people first before putting the product out there, but I understand this is a constant learning process and I enjoy the challenge. Also, not dropping a logo tee in first collection.
What is the biggest success you have had?
Just being able to show my product to some people and they say that they mess with it, people wearing my stuff or asking me about my shirt when I wear it. That stuff is cool to me I because for me it was all about just trying to create product that I liked but also people appreciate.
A SOURCE OF INSPIRATION PEOPLE MAY FIND WEIRD?
Not sure if it’s weird but the gym definitely opens up my mind.
Favorite color to use?
I’m all over the map when it comes to colors, that is probably why I created a white based shirt for each of my first 3 tees, and 3 different base colors options to go along with those shirts. I’ve always liked bright colors but depending on the design that can call for darker or brighter based color combination. But my favorite color is blue.
ARE THERE ANY RETAIL SHOPS YOU WOULD LOVE TO SEE YOU BRAND IN?
Places like DSM, Goodhood, VFiles, Bodega would be cool but so would local mall stores, Tampa locations of DTLR, Social Status.
ANOTHER BRAND THAT INSPIRES YOU AND WHY?
Where do you see yourself and the brand in 1 year and 5 years?
In one year I would want to have dropped an actual collection. In 5 years I would want to be in some stores and continue spreading the brand to where people would be anticipating a special release or collection dropping.
In 5 words or less describe your brand?
Everything starts from the top
